Poland is initiating its “Drug Policy 2.0” reform to address a record-high 1,211-day delay in access to new medicines, despite maintaining regional leadership in oncology.
The latest Access GAP 2026 report reveals that Poland secured the runner-up position in the Visegrad (V4) region with an overall score of 58.5 points across the therapeutic areas studied, outperforming Hungary and Slovakia but trailing the Czech Republic. However, the latest data reveal a troubling “time gap” where the average duration from drug registration to reimbursement has reached approximately 3.3 years.
“The data shows two parallel images of the Polish healthcare system,” Michał Byliniak, director general of Infarma, the Polish association of innovative pharmaceutical companies, told Euractiv.
