As EU leaders gathered for dinner along the marina in Ayia Napa, the evening unfolded in quiet Mediterranean grace. Yet just beyond the horizon, the world stirred uneasily.

The war in Iran – and its spillover across the Middle East – has pushed energy security and regional stability to the top of the agenda at a two-day EU meeting in Cyprus, which concludes today with an expanded dialogue involving Gulf partners, as well as representatives from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt.
