Do any of Rapporteur’s loyal readers remember Péter Magyar from his years in Brussels between 2011 and 2018? One former acquaintance from his time with his then-partner Judit Varga says “everybody only remembers Judit and not him.” This sounds a tad unfair.

Varga was a star in the European Parliament, working with the EPP delegation. She would ultimately become Hungary’s justice minister, before a spectacular fall from grace. Magyar was a more discreet figure, serving as a diplomat at the Hungarian Permanent Representation on inter-institutional affairs. Get in touch if you have memories of Magyar to share.
